Memory Foam Bed Base

Do you have the right bed base for a memory foam mattress?

Key points:

- It is best to use a completely flat, non-sprung base.
- Conventional spring bases cause undesirable upwards pressure.

When buying a memory foam mattress you will usually be faced with a choice: to buy a mattress and base in a set, or buy both parts individually.

If you decide to buy a base separately, there are certain things you should consider.  You should keep in mind that memory foam responds and conforms to pressure.  For this reason its better to ensure a completely flat surface as a base in order to give the mattress a chance to work properly.

With conventional box spring bases, this is simply not possible, given that the inner springs push upwards, creating a raised, bumpy foundation. This in turn causes pressure points which shape the foam around the springs instead of shaping around your body.

If you do need to buy a base to go with your new memory foam mattress, it's vital to think about memory foam and its purpose.

In a nutshell, to ensure any bed base you buy is suitable to complement memory foam you should buy a base that provides a flat surface in order to reap the full benefits memory foam has to offer.

When it comes to having or choosing the right base for a memory foam mattress, it doesn't have to cost a fortune. But at the same time there is little point in buying a memory foam mattress if it is on a suitable base.

Please don't get caught out purchasing a mattress without checking your base is suitable before hand.
